Stuck in a whirlwind on tying to find out how to establish your brand’s identity? Here a few steps that could help make you feel unstuck.

Know your why.

In the beginning you had a great idea on what business you should start, but now it might seem like you’re not exactly sure how to connect with your ideal customer. Knowing your why is VERY IMPORTANT because without you can’t move forward with anything. Before creating any visuals or verbals elements for your brand you need to brainstorm on why your brand exists. Why did you start this business. What goal are you trying to achieve. Asking yourself these questions are very important and can always be helpful during any phase of the business.

Defining your voice.

Tone, style, and language are very important elements to your business. It establishes how you communicate with you audience. Give you customer the perfect idea of you who are. What you are. What you do. If your brand is casual and playful add a bit of humor, but if your brand is a bit serious add professionalism and a formal tone. Whatever it may be be sure to use the right tone and language to give your customer the right idea of what type of business you are. This can also help with generating the right leads for your business but we will leave that for another topic.

Bring the visuals.

Now that you have gather the important information its for the fun part. Bring your visuals into life! This is where you get creative or your creative manager will get creative. Either way someone is going to get crafty. Think about how you want your brand to look like through typography, color palettes, and imagery. Think about what type of colors your logo will have. How will your logo look like. Now, if you already have your logo then you’re ahead of the game. However, having all these key factors aligning to one another is important as they will be working together.

Its always good to create about 3 drafts of everything. You might like one set of colors today but next week you could change your mind. Perhaps you aren’t a fan of Serif font and want something more unique. Research what fonts best reflect your brand. Take the time to out together all your thoughts and go from there. Even though your brand should be your way it is always good to ask for feedback. Others can see what you can’t and this can give you insights on what needs work. As you go through this process be sure to eliminate what you don’t like that way you can have the final product. Without process of elimination you’ll be stuck in the creative era forever.

Launch!

You’re ready. You’ve finalized your color palette, the font you like looks amazing, and your logo reflects the purpose of your brand. It’s time to launch! Your brand is set and now you can share what you’ve created with everyone. Remember, branding is an important element of your business. Take your time into what your brand should be. Be sure to do your research, and most importantly make sure your brand reflects the purpose of your business.
